TIJUANA, Mexico (AP) — Juninho celebrated the goal with which Pumas saved a 1-1 draw during their visit to Tijuana on Friday, to extend their unbeaten streak in the Liga MX Clausura tournament to eight games.

Ramiro Árciga opened the scoring for the border team with a powerful shot from the edge of the area, which managed to deflect a defender and went into the net in the 40th minute.

Brazilian Juninho equalized with his fourth goal of the season by pushing a rebound off the post that left him with the goal open to equalize in the 44th minute.

Pedro Vite was close to consummating the university comeback, after encouraging himself with a distant shot that warped before crashing into the crossbar and crashing near the goal line in the first minutes of the complement.

Pumas and Toluca are the only teams in the championship that have not lost. In the case of the university students, this tie provisionally leaves them in 2nd position with 16 units, behind Chivas (18) who will visit the Red Devils this Saturday.

Tijuana went six days without victories (five draws and one loss) to fall to tenth position with nine points.

Pumas is three games away from equaling its best record at the start of the campaign without defeat. He played 11 rounds of the 2011 Clausura tournament (seven wins and four draws), in which he celebrated his last championship.

In the Apertura 2020, the university students went 10 days without defeat (six wins and four losses) and reached the final, which they lost to León.

OTHER RESULTS

Santos Laguna came from behind on a couple of occasions, but their reaction was not enough to celebrate their first victory of the championship by ending with a 2-2 draw on the Querétaro field.

Mateo Coronel, at 13 minutes, and Santiago Homenchenko, at 30, from a penalty, converted the goals for the Gallos; Lucas Di Yorio, at 23, from a penalty, and Carlos Gruezo, at 45’+6′, were the ones who scored for the La Laguna team.

Santos is the only team in the championship without a victory, having just two points and pales at the bottom of the standings. Querétaro was in 15th position with six units.

In another result, Dudu Teodora scored the goal with which Mazatlán beat Pachuca 1-0 in the second minute of stoppage time before half-time.

The Mazatlan team had its third day without defeat (two wins and a draw) to place itself in 14th position with seven points, after having started the competition with five defeats. Pachuca stagnated in 5th position with 14 points.

In one more match, Ciudad Juárez ended a streak of five days without a victory by beating Atlas 3-1 at home.

The victory leaves the Braves in 13th position with seven points; Atlas fell to 6th with 13.
