A man was critically injured early Saturday morning amid an altercation outside Lush Resto Lounge on East Ridge Road, according to Irondequoit police.
Around 3:15 a.m., an Irondequoit police sergeant was parked across from the business at 527 E. Ridge Road, when several women began fighting in front of the establishment, according to police. The sergeant called for backup and attempted to intervene, police said.
During the incident, a 30-year-old Rochester man crashed through the front plate glass window of the building. He was found bleeding heavily from a serious laceration to his torso, police said. Officers rendered life-saving aid until he was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Irondequoit Ambulance.
Police said the man suffered what appears to be a life-threatening liver injury.
It remains unclear how the man sustained the injury – whether from an assault inside the building or as a result of the crash through the glass, police said.
The investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made.
Police also said the business does not appear to have a valid New York State liquor license. The town is launching a separate investigation into the venue’s operations, police said.
Police said updates will be released as new information becomes available.
