The Águilas Cibaeñas beat the Gigantes del Cibao 4-3 on Tuesday, who were mathematically eliminated from the Dominican Baseball League, where there are now only three teams left in dispute for two tickets to the final series, with four days remaining to conclude the round-robin round.

The Caribes of Anzoátegui won 9-8 in a tight duel of leaders over the Cardinals of Lara, to sign their fourth consecutive victory and take the lead in the round-robin round that defines the finalists of the Venezuelan Baseball League.

Antonio Piñero hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to break the tie and give the Caribbean the victory. Additionally, Balbino Fuenmayor, 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs, stood out, as well as Carlos Mendoza, 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

In Maracaibo, an RBI single by Gorkys Hernández capped a rocky three-run attack in the seventh inning – which included an error by third baseman Ábrelo Castellanos – and was decisive in the 7-5 victory of the Bravos de Margarita over the Águilas del Zulia.

The Caribes lead with a 5-2 record, followed by Cardenales (4-2), Águilas (4-3), Bravos (2-4) and Navegantes del Magallanes (1-5).
