Miguel Sanó hit two home runs on Wednesday to lead the Estrellas Orientales to a 7-5 victory over the Gigantes del Cibao in the Dominican Baseball League.
Sanó, a veteran of nine seasons in the Major Leagues, went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs, while Josh Lester added a solo home run.
In La Romana, Jeimer Candelario went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, while Brayan de la Cruz went 3-for-4 with two runs scored. The Toros del Este defeated the Leones del Esgido 7-4, signing their fourth consecutive victory.
The Águilas Cibaeñas beat the Tigres del Licey 4-2 in Santo Domigno. Aderlín Rodríguez led a three-run rally in the third inning with a two-run RBI single.
Despite Acuña Jr.’s home run, Sharks fall to Cardinals
The Lara Cardinals overcame Ronald Acuña Jr.’s second home run of the season to beat the La Guaira Sharks 6-5 in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.
Yohendrick Pinango went 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs, while Alí Sánchez went 1 for 3 with two RBIs.
For the Sharks, Acuña Jr. went 2 for 5 with a solo home run and left his batting average at .444 for the season.
In Valencia, Luis Sardiñas capped a great offensive night with an RBI single at the end of the tenth inning, to give the Navegantes del Magallanes an 8-7 victory over the Caribes de Anzoátegui. Sardiñas went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Renato Núñez hit a home run with the bases loaded.
The Braves of Margarita defeated the Águilas del Zulia 8-6 in Porlamar. Henry Rodríguez broke a tie with an RBI single in the eighth inning to condemn the Eagles to their seventh consecutive loss.
In Maracay, Alberth Martínez went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs to shine in the 8-3 victory of the Tigres de Aragua over the Leones del Caracas.
